Achievements

We work hard at school, but we also work hard at home, especially with our sports and other activities.
Max has a wonderful award for being play of the day.

Zara loves Pippins, she earned this badge for selling Girl Guide buiscuits

Matthew has not one, but two player of the day medals.

Writing: Star Writers

Max and Madi were both Star Writers on Tuesday, Miss O'Loughlin had been in the class as we were writing and was so impressed she asked them to come and read their stories to her class. What wonderful role-models.

Reading: Batman and Freezing

Congratulations to the Batman reading group, who have worked really hard and are ready to take on the challenge of books from the blue section of the reading colour wheel.

The first "blue book" we read is called Freezing, and is about a boy who can't get warm and is given a hot chocolate by his Dad. To hook us in to reading this and as a reward for working hard at our reading we get to have hot chocolates of our own while we read it!

Life Education

This week the Life Education van has been parked in the car park, Room 20 have visited twice so Harold can teach us all about Healthy Eating.

We are full of excitement as we carefully walk into the van.

First we talked about what we learned last time. A balanced diet and what certain foods do for us.

Then we took a photo of Ava with a special camera that could see her insides and how the digestive system works.

Finally Harold himself came to sing a song with us.

If you would like to learn more about Life Education and healthy eating, you can go to this website:

PE Gear

This term for fitness we have been learning about games without gear, but recently we were given a bucket of PE gear to use, so we had a lesson on how to treat our PE gear, and what we do with it all.

Balls like this are for the court and great for bouncing or shooting. We don't kick these balls.

The frisbee is for the field and is for passing between. We don't throw these straight up in the air.

The bats are great for hitting a tennis ball.

The elastics and skipping ropes are for jumping. We don't use them like whips or to pretend we are horses.

Hoops are for spinning or to use as a target with a bean bag.

We also have some good kicking balls, we play with these on the field.

Final Swim

The pool will be closed as of next Wednesday, that means this week was our final swim until the pool opens again in Term 4. We had a great time using the pool this term!

Hook: Elephant Toothpase

This week our Writing Hook was Elephant Toothpaste. Room 20 and 21 watched this experiment together.

Mr Horn had to mix all the ingredients because one of them was the chemical Hydrogen Peroxide

Dishwashing liquid started the bubbles

Then we had to add yeast and warm water - It smelled kind of funny...

And this is what happened!

What a mess!

If you want to read our writing about Elephant Toothpaste, check for our publishing posted to our Writing Slideshows next week.

Ella had a great weekend with Oliver and his family and is looking forward to going home with someone else next weekend.

Healthy Eating

This term we are learning about Healthy Eating, we will be going to see Harold in the Life Education van as well as all the learning we are doing in class.

We looked at this food pyramid and then looked to see how healthy our lunches are.

Here are some of the great healthy lunch boxes we are already bringing:

This one looks great, a healthy sandwich and nothing from the top to parts of the pyramid.

Another healthy looking sandwich!

Plenty of fruit and even a little meat in this one

Heaps of fruit and vege in this lunch box, and it is nearly rubbish free as well!

All of the stuff in this healthy lunch box is from the bottom three parts of the food pyramid.

We will learn a lot more about what makes a healthy lunch and why it is important to eat healthy as the term carries on.

Max and Ella's Weekend
