Jayla bakes pikelets for Maths Challenge . . . Jummmmmy!!

Jayla used different maths skills whilst making M & M's pikelets.  She used measuring skills to make the batter.

Jayla also used her counting skills to count them as she made the pikelets.  She then used her addition to add the amount of pikelets cooking to the ones already made.  She used her subtraction skills to take away the amount made from 20 so she could figure out how many we had left to make.  She also had to subtract the ones we ate along the way!!

Jayla shared her pikelets with Room 20 . . . yummmy!!!
Gemma the guide dog

On Wednesday 29th May, Gemma the guide dog visited room 20 with Susanne, Ryan's nana. She told the class how Gemma became a guide dog and she showed photo's of Gemma’s mum, dad and when she was a puppy.

It takes two years training (one with a puppy walker who taught  basic manners and another year in Auckland at Guide Dog Services for guiding skills.) Gemma goes everywhere with Susanne. There is only two places that she is not allowed and that is a zoo and the hospital Intensive care unit.

Gemma enjoyed everyone patting her, and meeting Ryan’s class. Room 20 wants to thank Ryan’s nana, Susanne for sharing her and Gemma’s story with us.
We really enjoyed their visit and learned heaps!
Thank you so much!

Tyler  bakes Banana cake for maths challenges

Tyler asked his mum to bake a Banana cake for his baking section on his maths sheet.
Firstly he help set the oven to the correct temperature.  Then Tyler read the ingredients ( with a bit of help ) and got them out the cupboards and fridge.
He then measured the ingredients out by himself into separate bowls – the recipe involves melts the butter and sugar on the stove, so mum did that bit, then Tyler poured each ingredient in one by one and stirred.
He set the timer on the cooker, once the cake was cooked he cut it up so his whole class could enjoy his effort.

Yummmmmy . . . we all enjoyed it!
Tyler you are a great cook!

Tyler is taking swimming lessons which he really enjoys.
He also likes Super Hero’s especially The Hulk.
He loves Playing on the computer and his favourite game is Minecraft.
